webcasts.berkeley
The UC Berkeley's central service for online video & audio

UC Berkeley webcasts selects courses and events for on-demand viewing via the Internet, provided as a study resource for students. The webcast.berkeley is divided into two macro areas: the courseware, which includes podcasts and webcasts of UC Berkeley’s current and archived courses, almost all available in both video and audio format, and then the events, which include all the contributions of guest speakers on campus events. The events are broadcast in direct streaming and then for viewing on demand on Youtube or iTunesU. There are more than 1,000 videos, classified by semester and department (courses and events) and category (events). The Events are classified by department, ranging from Sociology and Political Science to Economics and Computer Science, Research centres, such as the Goldman School of Public Policy or the Centre for Chinese Studies, and specific projects, such as Conversation with History (CHW) or Story Hour in the Library. Surfing within the site is easy but not very personalisable, offering only a site search beyond the macrocategories. Neither the videos, nor the audio files which are available for many of the lectures have much information or support material.
